Bea Johnson aka Zero Waste Home has a Bulk Finder app on her website where you can find local bulk/zero waste/package free stores in your area:
If you are U.K. based, here is a page for you including maps of where to shop more sustainably.
Sustainability & regenerative living is NOT about shopping…
…but sometimes we have to buy useful things like food. Sometimes we need to meet others where they are in their journey and give them better alternatives to what they currently do. This is a page to find suggestions for good online stores that produce less waste, do their best to be carbon neutral or sell ethical brands.
I think that the best ways to shop more sustainably in your area is (if possible):
Support local farmers, especially organic by shopping at food markets, getting a local veg box delivered or ask your supermarket where they source fruit & veg from.
Buy secondhand or vintage (clothing, furniture etc).
Mend & replace broken parts before replacing a whole item.
Ask your local stores about their supply chain.
Bring your own containers & avoiding excess packaging.
Avoid single use plastic. Only 9% of plastic has been recycled. Recycling unfortunately isn’t a solution.
Encourage sustainable & ethical brands.
Avoid amazon.com & other large online retailers who don’t fairly pay all their staff or actively care about the planet.
